Well, I know that it’s a bit of a drive, yet if you are heading north from Sebring, maybe heading for some incredible strawberry shortcake at Parkesdale’s, and you hanker for a snack, consider popping into the Bonefish Grill in Lakeland, Florida.
It’s not just the excellent seafood dishes that entice, it’s the Wednesday afternoon special on their Bang Bang shrimp that keeps us coming back.
This treat is a huge mound of battered shrimp stacked on a bed of greens, and uniquely spiced, with a real zinger of a bite to them.
I’m not a fan of too-spicy foods, yet this shrimp dish pricks my taste buds and satisfies my craving.
There are lots of drink specials at Bonefish Grill too, yet what is most appealing to me is the bottle of ice-cold filtered water that is immediately delivered to your table when you sit. Just enough coolness to sip between bites of what I believe to be the tastiest restaurant shrimp appetizer around.
We’ll stop in and have the full-priced shrimp for lunch, and if we are able to, stop in after 4:00 pm at the Lakeland location of Bonefish Grill for 1/2 price bang bang shrimp.
Yup, it’s a 60 mile drive – not too hard to get to – up #27 out of Sebring, and west on #60 to Bartown, and then up to south Lakeland, and it might be a bit much just for the shrimp. On the other hand, get there, try it once, and I think you’ll agree the drive is worth it, particularly if you can couple it with a visit to other neat areas in Lakeland, like the Dinosaur World which is near Lakeland.
Lots of other good dishes at the Bonefish, but it’s the shrimp that keeps us coming back.
